Meet your doctor

Dr. Bareera Usman

MBBS — Services Institute of Medical Sciences, Lahore
Advance Aesthetic Course (AAMA)

I trained in medicine before I specialised in skin, and that order still shapes how I practise. A laser is a medical device. A filler is a medical procedure. Both can go wrong in the hands of someone who has learned the technique but not the anatomy underneath it.

So my consultations tend to be longer than people expect, and they sometimes end with me talking a patient out of the treatment they came in asking for. That is not me being difficult — it is usually the most useful thing I can do in twenty minutes.

Qualifications and training

  • MBBS — Services Institute of Medical Sciences, Lahore (session 2008–2013, graduated 2015)
  • Advance Aesthetic Course — Academy of Advance Medical Aesthetics (AAMA), CPD certified, covering lower-face botulinum toxin and mid-face filler technique with supervised hands-on practice
  • 7th IPAAC 2026 — scientific programme, PC Hotel Lahore, 16 CPD points

Areas of focus

Acne and acne scarring

Active acne is a medical problem before it is a cosmetic one. I treat the inflammation first, usually over eight to twelve weeks, and only then look at scarring — because resurfacing skin that is still breaking out tends to make pigmentation worse.

Pigmentation and melasma in South Asian skin

This is the concern I see most often and the one most frequently mistreated. Melasma is a chronic, relapsing condition, not a one-off stain to be lasered off. Controlling it means identifying the triggers, treating conservatively, and being disciplined about sun protection long after the visible patches fade.

Laser hair reduction on brown skin

Wavelength, pulse duration, cooling and fluence all have to suit the patient's Fitzpatrick type. The same device that works beautifully on one patient can burn another. I patch test where indicated and build energy across sessions rather than starting high.

Injectables, used conservatively

My aim with botulinum toxin and fillers is that nobody can tell. Softened expression lines, restored volume, natural movement retained. I would rather under-treat and review in two weeks than chase a dramatic result in one sitting.

How I consult

  1. Your history — what you have tried, what you are taking, what happened last time
  2. Examination and standardised photography, so progress can be measured rather than remembered
  3. A written plan: treatments, session count, spacing, home care, cost, expected timeline
  4. An honest statement of what the plan will not achieve

A note on what I will not do. I will not treat during pregnancy or breastfeeding where a treatment is contraindicated, will not laser skin on recent isotretinoin, and will not start a course on a patient whose expectations I cannot meet. Turning work away is part of practising safely.

  • MBBS Services Institute of Medical Sciences, Lahore — session 2008–2013, graduated at the first convocation, May 2015
  • Advance Aesthetic Course Academy of Advance Medical Aesthetics (AAMA) — lower face, masseter, jawline and mid-face techniques, with practical hands-on training

Continuing professional development is a requirement of practising medicine, not an optional extra. Aesthetic technique moves quickly, and settings that were standard five years ago are not standard now.
